What a great opportunity for a library in your service area to be recognized for the innovative and exciting Summer Reading Programs they are implementing! In addition, the $3000 cash award supplied by Book Wholesalers, Inc. will help to fund those concepts! To refresh your memory, the ALSC/Book Wholesalers Reading Program Grant is designed to encourage reading programs for children in a public library by providing financial assistance of $3,000, while recognizing ALSC members for outstanding program development. The applicant must plan and present an outline for a theme-based summer reading program in a public library. The Committee encourages proposals with innovative ways to encourage involvement of children with physical or mental disabilities. Applications can be found at the following URL: http://www.ala.org/Content/NavigationMenu/ALSC/Awards_and_Scholarships1/ Professional_Awards/Book_Wholesalers_Reading_Program_Grant/BWI04.doc or by emailing ALSC at ALSC@ala.org and requesting an application in the mail. Applications are due by December 1, 2003 to: Meaghan Battle, Committee Chair Farmington Community Library 32737 West Twelve Mile Road Farmington Hills, MI 48334 The winner will be announced at ALA Midwinter in San Diego in Mid-January!
